GTCA Mural Program
In 2021, the Gorge Tillicum Community Association (GTCA) installed our first mural, Sunflower Girl by Paul Archer, at 100 Burnside Road West. This vibrant artwork inspired improvements to the building and led to the creation of a pollinator garden beneath the mural. It was the first step toward revitalizing Burnside Road and beautifying our neighbourhood.
This project demonstrated that murals are more than just art—they are an investment in our community. They attract attention, foster pride, and contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of our neighbourhood.
We are now working on several new mural proposals and actively fundraising to bring these projects to life.

This mural will magnify Arbutus menziesii, a uniquely local native tree, which has been highly regarded and sustained, for millennia, by the W̱SÁNEĆ first nations. "I hope this mural can be an opportunity to give a sense of nature towering back over the landscape, where it once thrived," states artist Collin Elder.

The mural will measure 65-foot wide by 25-foot high.

SUNFLOWER GIRL BY PAUL ARCHER
100 Burnside Road West
Installed in 2021
This hyper-realistic mural brought joy and hope to the community during the challenges of COVID. Paul Archer and his team installed the impressive 60-foot by 30-foot artwork in just six days. Since its installation, the Wascana Native Garden has been planted in front of it, transforming the space into a much-loved neighbourhood landmark.

The mural was funded through a Go Fund Me campaign, the GTCA, a grant from the District of Saanich and various business donors.
